Dayne rolled her eyes, course he would have to emphasis that little fact, it bothered her a little bit but at the same time she wasn’t bothered at all. This society was to focused on being in a relationship, and teaching woman that they only mattered when they were with someone to make them feel happy. Dayne was happy with life, she would be happier when all her work paid off and her new life would pay off.
Dating would just get in the way of that, so she never bothered with it. But if it made him sleep better at night, fine she would play alone. “No unnecessary touching though.” She added raising an eyebrow, as her way of indicating her thoughts on his proposal.
Eating another bite of her salad she listened to him talk about his likes, well he seemed interesting enough. Astronomy was interesting she had read a few books around that subject, not a lot but enough to have a decent conversation about it.
“Interesting…Hmm my favourite book would have to be.” She paused looking at her food intently before frowning. “I can’t really say I love to many, Jane Eyre was pretty good, but so was Hamlet.” She paused shrugging finally “It’s to hard to tell. And being put on the spot really doesn’t help.” Dayne sighed takinga nervous sip of water again.

Cutting his chicken into smaller pieces, he was half listening to her and half focused on the text he just got from Isabelle. "Right, no touching," he muttered mindlessly as he scrolled through the text. His body was shaking with laughter as he tried to remain neutral in front of Dayne. His girlfriend would always send him random pictures of herself doing stupid things or just funny quotes that she found online. "Sorry about that," Ryder said as he pulled himself away from his phone. "Don't worry, we can just start from the basics. When's your birthday?" He wasn't planning to jump on her or anything, after all, he did have a girl friend. When he received another text, Ryder once again tried to look like he was paying attention while reading his messages.
He looked back up to Dayne and shrugged when she said her favorite books. So she liked the old classic books. Since she was so different from Isabelle who was more into modern day novels like the Hunger Games, Ryder didn't want to approach a subject he merely read in school and didn't pay much attention about.
When she talked about being put on the spot, he raised his hands up in a defensive pose. "Hey, that's fine with me. We don't have to talk about you if you don't want to. Guess we could just eat and call it a day," he replied. He just wanted her to feel comfortable around him but if it's making her situation worse, it was fine for him not to talk at all.
Finally after not responding to her messages, he got a call from Isabelle which made the situation more awkward than it already was. "Sorry, I have to take the call," he merely said as he got up and walked out of the restaurant. He knew his parents were glaring at him but his girl friend was more important than this dinner.
"Hey. I'm a bit busy at the moment. I'll call you later." Ryder quickly said as he answered her call. "Of course. I'll see you tomorrow. Alright, I love you too. Bye baby." Using the moment to seize the chance to stay outside for a little longer, Ryder finally let out the sigh that he held in for so long. Sitting on the bench and breathing in the cold New York air, he closed his eyes as his face rested in his hands. This was like a nightmare coming true. After what felt like long minutes, Ryder gathered the courage to walk back into the restaurant and faced Dayne again.
"So, dancing, huh." he said stupidly, he honestly didn't know much about it. It was like they were from different worlds. Quickly changing the subjects into something more interesting, Ryder though he could prod into some more of her love life if he was going to be her pretend husband for a while. "So you've always wanted to be single? No guys hit on you or anything?"

Dayne looked at her food, the silence was more awkward then trying to answer his questions about her. Why would he care, it was clear that he had no need or want to be with her. Why were both there parents trying there hardest to make this work> Her parents probably thought this was the only way for her to get married and perhaps have a life like everyone else. But Ryder seemed to have everything his parents would ever want. A great girl who seemed to not be to bad other then getting sloshed at a party, and she was beautiful. They would both have the most gorgeous kids, if and when that would happen.
“Its January 3.” She said quietly before his phone kept going off and he excused himself from the table. How would his woman even cope with the fact that Dayne was going to be around her man anyways? Dayne would be lying if she wasn’t relieved to see him leave the table and talk with his little woman, she wanted to be a lone this stress wasn’t good for her nerves and if her parents didn’t take her home soon she was going to do something drastic.
“Yes dancing.” She mumbled finishing up her meal in the time he was gone. “If they did, I never noticed. But I hardly think so, high school I didn’t really attend public school, only until the beginning of high school instead I participated in homeschooling with a tutor and my dance instructor.” She trailed off.
The silence fell again and she drank the rest of her water. Lucky for the both of them Dayne looked over her shoulder to see her parents standing and doing there last good byes, handing cellphone numbers. This meant she could leave soon, just had to say good bye and get out of there.
"Well it seems like our parents are leaving. It was nice meeting you...again. I will see you again I would guess." she asked trailing off as she stood to her feet to quickly and seeing her mother watching her. Biting her lip she took a pen and took his hand scribbling her number on it.
"If you want to get a hold of me." Dayne whispered looking at him for a moment and letting go of his hand.

"January 3rd," he repeated once he got back as he mentally thought 'holy crap, it's in a few weeks.' He put it on his own to remind him and paused for a split second. He didn't know why he was going out so far to please a stranger. True, he was living with her or they might have to fake some love but he didn't love her. He doesn't even know anything about her and so far, their conversation was going down the hill. Turning his phone's screen off, Ryder started to eat his food before more things disrupted him. He hated leaving food to waste and the wontons were really good. He knew girls barely ate anything and most of them are scrawny dolls that are uncomfortable to hug. Maybe that's why he liked Isabelle when he compares her to other girls.
She wasn't afraid to eating and then exercising her calories. It was a lot more fun eating with her since they could actually share food. There was no way in hell that he was going to eat a salad, there's no proteins in those things. As she started to talk about homeschooling, he nearly choked. Not only was she never in a relationship, she wasn't great with socializing either. Maybe this is why this meal was so awkward. After finishing his food in silence, his parents were getting up and exchanging numbers. He took her number and slipped it in his pocket.
"It was great meeting you again," Ryder said before she headed off. He never had the chance to give her his number and it was probably for the best.
[January 1st, 2015]
"Mother, you moved everything without asking me?" Ryder rarely raises his voice to his parents but now he was furiously yelling at them. "You don't even know what I need. Can't I have any privacy? First you tell me that I cannot marry Isabelle and now you do this? I don't want to live with her. I don't know her. She's boring as a rock!" Some words he meant, some words he didn't mean but when angered, Ryder doesn't care what comes out of his mouth. His room was cleaned and all he had on him was a key to some new apartment his parents bought for both of them.
"You're ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous," Ryder threw his hands up in fury.
"Calm down honey. It's for the best. You have to learn to appreciate her. She's a wonderful person, so kind and sweet," his mother said gently, patting him on the arms.
"Appreciate what? I have to live with a stranger. Who knows what she might bring back?" he said running his hand through his hair. All his things were already moved and arranged into his condo without his knowledge. How did his parents move so fast?
"You're not welcome here anymore," his mom said sternly. "Hurry up and meet your fiance. You'll eventually love her."
He couldn't understand why his logical parents were so unreasonable now. He couldn't even look at them in the face without wanting to curse. Snatching his leather jacket hanging on the coat rack, he walked out of his house and into his car. He didn't expect to be living with her so soon. His parents didn't even wait a month, it has only been a week. Driving to the new place, Ryder eased his mind through music and driving aimlessly for a couple of hours before he decided to park his car into the garage.
Walking up the new condo, he unlocked the door and headed inside. Everything was already furnished and there seem to be only one bedroom. To his dismay, there was only one bathroom as well. The kitchen and the dining room was connected. He could tell that was room was exactly like his room back home. Everything was in neat and in place, it didn't seem like he moved at all. Then again, he has always been neat so moving his stuff wasn't a chore. Sitting down on the couch, Ryder started to think of ways to make the best of this. Living with his parents taught him to be optimistic no matter the outcome.

Dayne looked threw a couple items into boxes as she packed the rest of her things up. She didn’t have a lot, considering she could have anything she wanted. Her parents were well off, but she never really bought a lot. Just asked for new dance stuff or new books. That’s what the majority of her boxes were too. Books, and dance clothes. Standing to her fee she rubbed her back and looked around her empty room.
Dayne tried to not be angry at her parents but she couldn’t help it. It was a day after new years and she was going to be moving in with a stranger. Sure it was her fiancé, but she wasn’t even sure who he was and what he did and she could already tell they weren’t going to get a long at all. Why were they making her move in with him? For all she knew he was going to murder her in her sleep so he could be with his ‘true love’. Strange she was in a love triangle—something she ever thought she would be in.
“Are you all packed dear?” Her mother came in with two males who were loading the car turck with her stuff. They grabbed the last box and movd it out f her room leaving the empty room with bare walls and no stories. “Strange to think you will be married here pretty soon right?” she paused putting a hand on her daughters shoulders. “We know your not happy about this Dayne but its for the best. You’ll learn to love him, you’ll see.”
Dayne said nothing shrugged her mother’s hands off her shoulders and stormed out getting into the car without a sound. She wasn’t going to talk until she had too, that was how she was. Keep your thoughts inside that way, no one knows how you really feel.
The new condo came into view and the movers had already beaten them there. Dayne told her parents that she wasn’t going to need their help that they could head back home and she would have them over for dinner some other time. They were hesitant but she got them to leave, they both knew she was still not welcome with the whole thing. And her parents respected her enough to let her think things over before pushing it to hard. Well for most things anyways. Marrying strangers apparently didn’t count.
Bringing a box of clothes up to her new ‘home’ she unlocked the door, to already see Ryder on the couch making herself comfortable. “Well if it isn’t my honey.” She drawled looking around the condo for a moment. “Did your parents already decorate for us and everything?” she paused going into the bedroom and frowning as she opened the closet. To her surprise she found a tone of clothing and no places for her books.
“Is there any room for any of my stuff?” she asked coming back out and looking at him for a moment before sighing. “Sorry, I shoudn’t snap.”

If he wasn't keeping his cool, Ryder would have thrown this condo into a huge mess. He would have smashed everything he sees and rip everything in his sight. But no, he was sitting on the couch trying to find ways to cope with the situation. That's what he does, he copes with things. He didn't even try to bother and see what's in his room. All he was trying to do was comfort himself in this miserable situation and before he knew it...things got worse.
He looked up at the girl who stepped inside the door. "My parents?" he said leaning against the couch. "Apparently so," he shrugged. It didn't seem like she appreciate his presence either. It was like they're on the same page and that page clearly states, 'We don't like each other and we probably will never learn to like each other.'
Ryder was used to living alone, buying things for himself, doing what he wishes, taking up as much space as he wants in his own room. But now he has to learn how to share. And if anything, he hates sharing.
'No.' he wanted to say but he kept his mouth shut. Getting up, he motioned for her to follow him into their bedroom and opened the closet door. He grabbed some hangers and pushed his clothes to the far left, giving her almost half the space. "That's your table, the empty one," he merely said. He tossed the clothes on his hand onto the bed and walked back to the couch.
I can do this. This is going to work. We'll just be like roommates living in the same room and condo. Oh what the hell. Rubbing his eyes, Ryder thought since they're living together, rules need to be made. Taking out a piece of paper and some pens, he sat on the floor and used the coffee table as a desk.
"Dayne. Come here," he called out. "We have some rules to established. Look, I know you don't want to live with me and trust me, I don't want to live with you either. But to make this work, let's try not to kill each other. Give me six months to figure out a way to absolve this marriage. Before then, let's just live amicably, agree?" he asked.

Dayne followed him into the bedroom—she ignored the thought of having to sleep in the same bedroom as him for a little longer—and started putting her clothes on the rake space he left for her. It wasn’t much but she would find ways to put her things away, then she could finally relax and get her mind around this mess she know called life.
With more boxes coming up with the movers she would be able to fill up about half the space he left for her, she hadn’t very much and it was clear the man liked his clothing. He did look nice though, so she would give it to him.
Being beckoned she walked out crossing her arms over her chest listening again, she hadn’t said much sense she walked in, but she had a feeling that was how it was always going to be. No talking just living being there. Some marriage.
“Six months.” She repeated taking a seat on the arm chair watching him. “Fine. So we don’t kil each other rules should be made as I can see you already thought of.” She said looking down at his paper.
“I wake up early in the morning, and I go to bed early, and it seems…Like we will be sharing a bed I think we should stay on our own sides of the bed. The farther the better.” She added before thinking more. “I don’t cook, I have never learned so if you are expecting me to cook for you I will probably end up poisoning you. But I remember you saying that you cooked so that probably won’t be a probem.” Pausing she looked at him. “Your turn, I have to think a bit more.”

He never thought there would be a day when he has to cook for a stranger but hey, this year was full of unexpected moments. "I sleep on the right side," he merely shrugged. "We'll put a pillow to divide the bed, no crossing over." He sleeps like a mummy so it should be fine. "I sleep late and I wake up late. All my classes are in the evening. There's a study room so I won't bother you while you're asleep. If anything, I'll sleep on the couch," he said to reassure her. For some odd reason, he has a feeling that the couch will be his new bed. So much for a married life.
"And I can cook. We have to eat three meals a day. When do you get up every day? I'll try to get up and make breakfast." Generally the guy would wake up at noon and that'll be his breakfast and he eats again around 3 in the evening. However, he doubts she wakes up that late. "You should give me your schedule before you go to bed tonight."
Scribbling down the rules first few rules about who makes breakfast and which sides of the bed is for each person, Ryder started to think about his own personal space. "Don't touch my things. I won't touch yours. Don't move my stuff either. Wash the dishes after you finish eating. Clean up after yourself. Do your own laundry and do it every week. Don't make a mess in the house and once again, if you do make a mess, clean up. Don't touch anything you don't know how to use." He paused for a second as he wrote down the rules. He scribbled his number on the top as well as her number.
"Text me if you need anything. Do not call me unless it's an emergency. This page will go in our room as a contract. I'm sure you get your own allowance. You have to go grocery shopping once a week because I'm too busy for it. I'll write down what you have to buy before I leave. There will be maids cleaning the house once a week so you don't have to do any of that."
Ryder smiled, feeling accomplished. "I think that's about it. Let's live in peace," he said holding his hands to shake. He knew he was a difficult person to live with but if she wanted to move out, good for her. The more room he gets to himself, the better.
"Oh. One last thing. Don't ever appear in front of Isabelle. If you have guests over, let me know. I won't be home for the night. In front of our parents, act like you like me. Try to be civil. That's it. Anything else for you before we sign our names?"

“You do have a lot of rules. But I’ll agree to them all sense they benefit me as well.” Dayne said quietly watching him jot down his notes. “About the breakfast thing, I don’t normally eat breakfast, I eat a grapefruit or some kina fruit and leave, so you don’t have to get up if you do not wish.” She paused taking the list and reading it over again for good measure.
So many rules, but that was okay she was used to rules she had a list of things she did every day for her ballerina lessons. Being a ballerina was hard work, and she had to discipline herself when it came to almost everything. Looking at him again she handing him the paper back.
“As for Isabelle you are going to have to give me warning when she comes over. I don’t have any friends and when I’m not doing school work I am at the dance studio practicing. That’s normally around 3-7. I’ll have the full list and put it on the fridge once I have my printer set up and am all set up.” She paused taking his hand.
“If you can call this peace.” She said finally taking the pen before signing her name in a loopy manner before giving him his pen back. “Now if you excuse me I’m going to set my things so I can try and get my mind around…whats all going on.” She said quietly before grabbing a few more boxes of clothes and heading into there bedroom and starting the long process of unpacking.

He quickly set an alarm for eight in the morning to make her breakfast. She has to eat breakfast, maybe that's why she's so skinny. He'll make a simple sandwich or something but she has to eat in the morning. Ryder has his random stubborn quirks and he wants what's best for others as well as himself. Isabelle isn't coming over here for sure and he was hoping that she doesn't approach him in class either. Hopefully they didn't have any class together.
He didn't want to comment on her not having any friends. That would be rude of him and maybe he could bring some of his closer family friends over. It'll be better for her to get along with some other females her age. He couldn't comprehend how she spent all her life alone this whole time. "My schedule will be on the fridge as well. We have dinner at 7:30 sharp then. Don't be late and message me when you're not eating dinner. My class starts after 8 and I won't be home until three or four in the morning," he said noticing how their schedule is completely opposite. It looks like he won't see her much which is fine by him.
Signing his name on the paper as she left, he went into the room and taped it on top of the bed post. He somewhat thanked his parents for unpacking his things already. It made it easier for him not to do much while she unpacks her things. "I'm going to make dinner, what do you wanna eat?" he asked as he walked left the room. It was a sunday and school starts tomorrow. He opened the fridge and laughed when it was completely stocked with food. There were eggs, cabbages, tomatoes, almost everything he usually buys when he goes to the grocery store. Exploring the kitchen, Ryder opened all the cabinets and drawers to find all kinds of stuff he usually buys cluttered in the cabinets.
"You're welcome to help me once you're done unpacking," he called out as he pulled out plates, pans, and other things he needed to start cooking.

Dayne thought about food for a moment as he called out to her and she shrugged to herself. What was she hungry to eat? Looking at her socks and underwear she put them in the bottom drawer on the left side of the bed, sense Ryder had already called the right side. She added her pjs to the same dresser and turned to put the rest of her clothes away.
“I’ll have anything, just nothing deep fried please.” She called out to him not bothering to leave the bedroom, she was busy. No point in her ditching her duties. She had to have this all sorted out before they could sleep that night. It took her a little while but soon she had her clothes all neatly put into there new laces and all she had left was her books, that was going to take sometime though. And she had barely the energy to deal with that at the moment. Instead Dayne left the bedroom and smelt the air-something smelt good.
“What are you making..?” she asked walking up beside him not to close but the reasonable distance between two strangers. “I’m not sure I would be much help to you, I do not cook because I well burn things.” She trailed off slightly embarrassed.

"Nothing deep fried, huh," he muttered as he turned on the stove and put some oil in the pan to spread. He suppose he can make some grilled chicken and pasta. There was also some salad and dressing in the fridge. Ryder took out the chicken breast from the fridge and started to season it with herbs and spices he found in the cabinets. Placing them in the pan to grill, Ryder started to focus on the salad. It wasn't too hard especially since all he needed was a bowl, salad, and dressing. He almost jumped when he heard her voice again and turned to face Dayne.
"I'm making deep fried chicken," he joked shaking his head. He chuckled when she said she cannot cook. Generally males would want their wife to be chefs but Ryder was fine cooking. Whatever makes the female happy makes him happy because then there were just less naggers in the world. "It's just grilled season chicken. Do you eat it with rice or anything? Can you help me set up the table?" he asked as he passed her the dishes. "Oh and put this on the table," he passed her the bowl of salad with several random dressings he found in the fridge.
"Either my parents or your parents prepared this fridge really well. Think we don't have to shop for a few days," he said as he flipped the chicken. Once it was done cooking, he motioned her to come over.
"Here, cut this into smaller pieces, it'll be easier to eat. Careful, it's hot," he said as he places it on the cutting board. He walked over to the fridge, peering inside and looking at what drinks were available.
"Orange or apple juice? Or water? Think we have some cans of beer and wine..."

“But I said I didn’t want deep fried-“ Dayne cut herself off realizing he was joking and turned away sighing. Damn, she was so bad with people, why was she even doing this? Or right, no money. “Um alright I can do that, did that at home all the time.” She laughed taking plates, cups and silverware onto the table in a organized fashion. Seeing as there was candles she lit them as well.
“Sense I guess…this is what you would call a ‘special occasion’ first night together or whatever. I’ll, take a glass of red wine if there is any?” she asked before going to the chicken and staring at it for a moment. Why was it so scary to handle a sharp knife and not cut yourself?
Being careful, she took the chicken out and placed it on a serving plate were she could cut the chicken without the awkward angle Well, not as awkward an angle. It was still odd and with her fingers holding the chicken she was getting the hang of it until she felt a sudden pain and she gasped. “Damnit!” she crid looking down at it.
“Tch this is why I don’t cook…Um your chickens ready I’m just..going to wash this out.” With the words out of her mouth Dayne made a beeline for the bathroom where she rinsed the side of her finger under cold water. It wasn’t a big cut, but a cut none the less. Why was she so clumsy when she wasn’t on the dance floor? She was graceful thee. Like a swan she had been told.
Once her cut was cleaned she put a bandaid on it—that was after she found them. “This looks good..” she said taking a seat and looking at him sense he hadn’t sat down yet.

She's kinda cute. Was Ryder's first thought when he realized that Dayne cannot take a joke. She would be a great girl friend if she was just a bit more social. He could fix that. It was great that she was into her own dance and all but socializing means network which also equals opportunities in the future. "Red wine, it is!" he exclaimed as he pulled out the red wine. He put it in an ice bucket and grabbed two wine glass. Settling them down on the table, he smiled at how she set the table. It looks like she learned the ways, she knew a lot more than he thought she would.
"So how's the chick-" he was cut off with the sudden cry. "Holy crap, my god, Dayne," Ryder said just as she hurried into the bathroom. When she came back out, he grimaced at her bandaid and shook his head. "Did you apply neosporin? You can't just put the bandaid on," he said before heading into his bedroom. He always kept a first aid kit just in case something happened but he didn't expect it to happen so soon. "You're quite clumsy for a dancer," Ryder teased as he brought out his kit. "C'mere, let me see," he eased her to sit on the chair as he kneeled and unwrapped the bandaid.
"It's a small cut...thank god it wasn't the fingers." Ryder grabbed the antiseptic. "It's gonna hurt for a sec," he warned as he applied it on her wound. Putting neosporin on to fasten the healing process, he wrapped a new bandaid on her finger. "Good as new, make sure you put on neosporin just in case." Putting his kit underneath the kitchen sink since it probably will be needed more in the kitchen, Ryder placed the chicken neatly into two plates and brought it over to the table. Turning off the light, he watched the candles illuminated her face and it gave him a warm feeling. For a second there, they really did seem married and everything was going perfectly well.
"Now I know you're going nowhere near knives again," Ryder said clearly amused by the incident. "Chicken and salad, or chicken salad. Whatever you wanna call it. I'll make something better tomorrow."
Just as they settled down in the dark, his phone started ringing. Exasperated by the noise, he turned it off without looking at the caller id. "So, special night and all," he winked. "How's the food?"

Don't let yourself be blinded by fear or anger. Everything is only as it is.

Dayne wasn’t sure how to make out what just happened, she thought she had done an alright job with healing herself, putting a bandaid on after she rinced the gushing blood out from her sliced hand but he wanted to make sure she had the whole works. And she would be lying if his kindness hadn’t made her like him more, he was kind, sweet even. To think she could be married to this but…
Pushing the thoughts out of her head she looked down at her hand and tried to force the heat rising from her cheeks to go away at his comment about her being clumsy. “I really am a good dancer just not…around the kitchen, people well, anywhere other then the dance floor.” She admitted taking a breath before taking a sip of the red wine.
“I won’t cut anything again, I’ll just stick to setting the table.” She said lightly before hearing his phone go off, surprisingly he didn’t answer it, which caused her to wonder why not. He was eager the last time they met, but not know? “Thank you for take care of my hand. Oh, and this all smells deliouse….Better then what I had at the restaurant I think even.” She said recalling she had this last time they had met. Taking a bite and eating it.
“Um…so what classes are you taking?” Dayne asked trying to make some sort of small talk sense she hated the silence, normally she loved it but this silence was the awkward kind.
