Before Tegan even had the chance to offer Aera a drink, she was gone. And before Tegan even had the chance to offer to help her look for her wand. She left Tegan awkwardly trying to offer to help the empty air behind her. Tegan muttered to the space before her, “I hope she finds her wand.” Tegan really wished Aera had allowed her the opportunity to help her. She was confident that between the two of them they would have been able to find it in no time. Besides, she and Aera had not really had a chance to chat just the two of them since the end of the last term. Not that there was probably much to catch up on. They had written occasionally over the summer, so there had probably not been many major developments. Although, with Aera it was impossible to tell. She always seemed to have something going on. Notably the missing wand today. Sure, Aera was irresponsible, but her wand was kind of a big deal. Surely no one would steal it though. Everyone had their own wands already. So she would probably be fine.
Meanwhile, Mason had taken up Kaylynn’s question. He exclaimed, “It was a riot! She nearly hexed him. And she’s pretty good with her hexes, so it would’ve been glorious!” Mason laughed, apparently imagining the hilarious inventiveness of purple hair’s curse.
Tegan finally managed to pour Jax’s drink, but she was still worrying after Aera for a few moments longer. Tegan also poured Mason the same juice. Mason protested to the drink in front of him, yelping, “You didn’t ask what I wanted!” Tegan took back the glass, smirking, “What do you want to drink?” Mason paused, “Juice.” Tegan rolled her eyes, “Exactly.” Mason snatched the cup from her hand, muttering something into it. Tegan doubted it was flattering.
In the time it took them to have this exchange, their group had swelled in size. Jeong-Tae and Ariella had joined the group. Mason cheered, “Hallo, Ari! And Jeong-Tae.” Tegan offered to the group across the table, “What beverage would any of you like?” She was still balancing one knee on the bench behind her, trying to settle drinks before she settled herself to eat. Already the food had appeared on the table, courtesy of the house elves, who were on a small salary after constant efforts from alumni, notably Hermione Granger.
Mason asked, poking a serving spoon into the mashed potatoes, “You know what’s weird?” Tegan obliged him, “ I do not know, what?” Mason stated, “No one’s mentioned the Triwizard Tournament here yet.” Tegan raised a brow, “What do you mean? That occurred a few years ago, right?” Mason shook his head, “Yeah, but it’s been all over the Prophet. Well, there were two quick articles a few weeks ago in the bit about international magical cooperation. Anyway, it’s every five years. So it should be back around this year.”

Kaylynn listened to what Mason had to say about the purple haired incident nodding at approiat times and listening to what he had to say. She had to admit it did seem like it would have been funny, and the purple colour really wasn’t that unappealing. It could have been a lot worse so she wasn’t quite sure why the girl had been so dishelved by the incident. Nonetheless she would have been fine by the end of the day so in all honesty it was rather old news.
At the comment of her drawing Kay gave a small embarrassed smile to Aera who seemed to be in a hurry. And rightfully so, losing ones wand wasn’t very good specially for students there age. “Hopefully you find it.” She called before turning to see that J.T had taken a seat next to her. He was quite fellow, and to be honest she didn’t mind him to much. Though he seemed to be slightly scary with how strict he was about rules and studying. Nonetheless, she didn’t mind him. And having him sit by her was almost an honor in all honesty.
With all the chatter going on around her Kay, had to admit it was hard to point her attention to one person when she heard her name in an excited tone she gave a large smile to Ari as she held up her book so she could see what they had been studying in Care of Magical Creatures. Her heart leapt at the picture and the notes. “Oh that’s so exciting. I remember studying Doxys a few years ago. They are fascinating creatures.” She commented giving a large smile to Ari again.
Kaylynn was about to say something else but at the comment about the Twiwizard Tournament her heart twisted in a little bit of fear. Why was that? Well because it was a scary year and what happened with He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named ten years ago and the death of Cedric Diggory, it was something that many people were hesitant about. Though, the death had resulted from He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named, it still was a sore spot. Exciting and dangerous though for people anyways. And, for most people it was the Yule Ball that they were excited about. Getting dressed up, and meeting new people.
“You have a point. It’s been pretty quiet, I bet we hear about it tonight.” She commented taking a bite of her food in front of her, not really hungry but thinking eating something would be the proper thing to do at a time like this. “I hope they bring a dragon that would be thrilling to see.” She cooed more to herself then anyone else.

((It's so short )) “I hope so!” Mason exclaimed, “I want all those people to show up. I heard the Americans are coming this year. Cool right? I don’t really know any real Americans. Don’t suppose they’ll /all/ be fat will they? I know it’s just a stereotype, but they could be.” Tegan nodded, “Meeting new people will be an exciting opportunity.” Mason continued, “Kay, you’re right. If I get any vote, I totally pick dragons. And I’ll let you get an up-close look at all of them, since that’s your thing.” Lunch continued in that way, chatting about the tournament and its possibilities and, of course, the Yule Ball that would certainly occur. And then it was time for class again. Mason moaned, “I can’t believe you have to go to class again. Come on!” Tegan shrugged, taking a last sip of Pumpkin Juice before standing up, “You had the opportunity to take a NEWT in Potions, you chose to refuse the opportunity.” Mason sighed, “Good point. But I don’t want to take it anyway, so… Have fun on your own!” Tegan smiled, “I thought so.” Tegan shouldered her bag and stood up, turning to Jaxon, who she was going to be spending most of her life with apparently, “Shall we?” After they started walking to class, Tegan queried, “ Do you suppose you will enter? I cannot, of course. I am not sure I would even if I were allowed.” Meanwhile, Mason asked the rest of the group, "So does anyone else have class or are you all off too?"

Chatter went on as usual, until the point of the tri-wizard tournament came up. Tegan wasn't wrong it was unusual that there wasn't much about it yet. But then again, this school like to spring things on it's students, and the headmaster was still relatively new even if he had been at the school for awhile. It wasn't really something Jaxon thought to much about anyway.
Ari on the other hand perked up about it. "Ohhh, I heard about that! I know I'm too young to participate but it seems like fun to watch! And the ball..." To be honest Ariella wasn't sure if the younger students were allowed to go to the ball too, but she hoped. It would be nice. Maybe she could volunteer to help with it if they weren't allowed or something. Soon the whole conversation shifted into their table talking about the tourney and the ball. With the exception of Jax who put in minimal thoughts about the whole thing. Then it was time to be off to class again.
Jax watched her leave before standing up and joining Tegan who waited a moment for him to join her to class. They were joined at the hip class wise. As they walked Tegan asked if he would put his name into the cup. Pausing on it for a moment Jax offered a slight shrug, "I hadn't really thought about it to be honest. I probably will though. I'm sure my dad would be pleased about it." Jaxon didn't particularly care whether he got picked or not. He would put his name in though so he could at least tell his father that much. "I wonder how it would be if I got picked though." He thought aloud as they walked into the potions class. Professor Leafdale was already present.
"So..." Jax started a little awkwardly. He didn't know if it was rude not to offer to sit at the same table again, but he also didn't know if Tegan would want to sit with him in every single one of their classes. He did have friends in this class to, but... "Desk mates again or...?" The serious, scowl like expression he always seemed to wear probably didn't help how awkward his asking skills were. Especially when asking if she wanted to sit with him again.

Tegan supposed Jax had a point, of course he had not thought about it yet. After all, they had all just realized that the tournament was actually happening. So he probably hadn’t had the chance. Tegan’s choice had been easier. Mostly because it was not really a choice. It was already decided. She was not 18 yet, no, the legal age was 17. Well, she was not 17 either. Tegan often struggled to remember slight differences such as that between the wizarding world and the world she grew up in. The differences occasionally left her in an awkward position trying to remember what exactly she was supposed to think about different topics.
Jax’s answer was maybe surprising. To please his father? What a strange reason to enter. Not for excitement or glory? Well, she supposed it was a bit sexist to assume that he would enter for the glory because he was a boy. Tegan chirped, “It would be exciting to compete. And it would be an honor to be selected as the champion.” Just as she had finished this comment, they crossed into the classroom.
Tegan glanced around the room, everyone was familiar, naturally. There were not so many kids in their year that she could not keep track of them. She often had had Potions with Ravenclaws previous to that year, so she was most familiar with their abilities. The Gryffindors and Slytherins she only knew from their other lessons. Of course, Tegan got along with everyone relatively well. She was not a person with many enemies, so that was not much of a surprise. There was only a handful of people in their year that Tegan would not willingly interact with. But she wasn’t exactly sure who she wanted to work with for the rest of the year. Several of their classmates were already settled at desks, chattering eagerly.
Jax seemed to read her mind because he asked if they were going to work together as they walked in. He looked uncomfortable though. Like he did not quite want her to say yes. But he didn’t look like he was eager for her to say no either. She supposed if he had not wanted to sit with her, he would have walked away and joined someone else. But what if he was just being polite. She did not want to overstep his politeness and take him up on an offer that he was only extending as a courtesy. Tegan decided to agree without agreeing entirely, allowing him to back out if he was really only offering to offer. She said, “I don’t mind if you don’t mind?”

Kay felt herself smile towards Mason who agreed with her when she mentioned dragons. She was hopping beyond belief that dragons would show there faces towards the games. They could fight them, grab an egg like Harry Potter did when he was in the games last time. Oh the games were exciting and scary all at the same time.
She was going to watch for sure, but she hoped beyond belief that no one would die this time. Her throat closed at that thought before she pushed it away. No one would, they would make sure of it.
“Have a good time in your classes. I have a free relatively free block.” Kay said shrugging her shoulders as the other two kids left. Which left her with Mason who also didn’t take Potions. Kaylynn wondered if perhaps she should have taken the course but it was to late know.
“Oh and Ari we will have to find a way for you to come to the Yule ball, will be a pretty big thing.” Kay said watching the girl leave for her class. She liked her, quiet like her. Definetly a nice girl.
“I wonder how the Yule ball will go..And meeting new people. It could be exciting.” Kaylynn said looking to Mason giving him a smile. “I mean…Americans could be really nice, hopefully not to fat. That could make their performance a little sloppy don’t you think? Specially if they do go against dragons.”

Jaxon didn't react immediately when Tegan suddenly made it his choice again. He looked around the room at who his potential partners could be otherwise. There was his closest friend from Slytherin... But that guy was horrible in potions. They'd probably fail for sure. Then there was the girl who often tried to get Jax to study with her.... That wasn't about to happen since she asked too many questions about him.
So it was Tegan he would partner with again. Besides it probably was better that they were partners. After all they earlier talked about helping each other out in their weaker subjects. That would work best if they were partners often. Though he wasn't sure Tegan would want to spend all her time with a Slytherin. I mean they were friends but it wasn't like they were best friends or anything. Jax didn't really have any one of those.
So leading the way, Jax picked a desk for them. "Let's sit here." He picked the best desk he could away from those he was sure were going to be disaster pairings. He didn't feel like having explosions, or things like that happening too close to him. He was sure Tegan wouldn't want that either. "I wonder if professor Leafdale is still bitter about not being the DaDa teacher..." He mumbled to Tegan looking at the professor of the class.

As the lunch period ended, Mason was left with Kaylynn in the steadily emptying Great Hall. It seemed like a majority of the students at the school had classes immediately following lunch. Although, there were still plenty of students remaining, just far fewer than there had been moments before. Furthermore, a few more students filed into the hall, apparently having been elsewhere for part of the lunch period and were now seeking more food (though most of it had disappeared from the tables) or new companionship for a free hour.
Mason quickly decided he was going to hang out with Kaylynn. They were acquaintances after having six years of schooling together. And she was pretty interesting. Plus dragons. Dragons were cool. So Kaylynn was cool by proxy. And of her own merit. She had that never-ending notebook, which seemed like a pretty sophisticated charm to Mason. Thus, they would hang out today. And maybe every Monday from there out.
Kaylynn was, contrary to what Mason might have suspected, not talking about dragons. Instead she was talking about the Yule Ball. Everyone was probably going to get excited about that. It was, after all, something that everyone older than their fourth year could participate in freely, as opposed to the challenges, which only the champions would participate in. Mason commented, “Probably good, I’d guess. I mean, no one’s going to die at the ball. Though someone will probably have a fight over dates. Definitely some fourth years. Fourteen’s such a rough time. All that puberty and new hormones rushing around. So that part will be interesting at least.”
Mason snorted, “Maybe the fat would protect ‘em from dragons. Who likes meat with fat on it, right?” He laughed at his own joke. “And then the American, like, walks by and the dragon just turns up its nose and he strolls right by and just wins the challenge. God, that would be the worst for the other champions who actually have to dodge getting eaten or the like!”
Mason sighed, “It’s nice to have a free hour not spent in the library. It’s not going to stay like this once NEWT studying begins and homework rears its ugly head.” What a mess that was going to be. At least they weren’t this year, so he had a slight reprieve.
---
Tegan had taken Jax’s moment to decide as an opportunity to glance around the classroom for her own contingency plan. Luckily, she was pretty much able to get along with most of their class. And in the time it had taken her to look around, Jax had apparently decided and was walking towards their to-be desk.
Tegan quickly bounced after him, replying, “Okay.” The desk he picked was near to the front of the room and thankfully far away from the dangers of Jessica Manchester, who, while lovely company and a competent Herbologist, was a disaster in the potions classroom and occasionally put those sitting too near to her in peril. Some unfortunate soul arriving after than themselves would be left in the disaster zone for the year. Timeliness definitely paid off in this situation.
Sliding into the seat next to Jaxon, Tegan pondered his comment. Professor Leafdale was not exactly subtle about his original desire to be the DADA teacher and subsequent relegation to the position of Potions Master. Tegan thought both were good positions, and teaching at Hogwarts (regardless of subject) was an honor. But she supposed it must be upsetting to teach in an area different than one’s own interest. Tegan replied, in an equally quiet tone with a bit of a smirk, “I would suppose so. Unless of course he had a very relaxing and educational holiday that convinced him to change his mind. However, I doubt that.”
Tegan pulled a few of her supplies from her bag, assuming they would begin making potions on the first day rather than receiving a lecture (since they had already had five years of experience). She glanced at the table of contents in her Potions textbook, wondering what the lucky potion of the day could be.

Kaylynn waved good bye to her other friends as they left for potions with Professor Leafdale, a Professor who she knew, along with everyone else, hated not being the DADA teacher. Course it would probably be because he seemed a little dark but she didn’t know the man on a personal level. And who was she to judge?
With Teagon and Jax gone Kaylynn and Mason were left together, something she didn’t mind to much considering she did see him as a friend. He only bothered her when he had that annoying time to play with her journal and snoop through it. Though it had been awhile since he had even tried so she had almost forgotten about it.
“I forgot about the dates and such that comes with the Yule ball.” Kaylynn said frowning a bit. Going to the Yule ball alone would be mighty boring, perhaps someone would ask her? Perhaps she was having wishful thinking.
“Acutally, dragons would probably want a fat American for the reason they have so much meat on there bones. Not to mention if they are slower they could be caught easier.” She paused realizing he was being funny and she smiled. “That is a good one though.”
At the mention of NEWTS though Kaylynn fell quiet, she would have to start studying for those right away if she was going to be prepared for her tests. Good thing she was a good student otherwise she would be left behind in the dust with all her day dreaming she did.
“Are you going to put your name in the Goblet when it comes time? I wonder were all the students from other countries will be like…” she trailed off starting to work on her picture of fang while she waited for Mason to put his two sense into her random thoughts.

Jaxon nodded in agreement with Tegan agreeing with him about professor Leafdale. Following her suit he, too, got out his supplies. They were sixth years after all, so they would probably just jump right in. Besides Professor Leafdale was that kind of professor. Embarrassingly enough for Jax, he had to rely on Tegan much more than he would have liked to. Potions after all was one of his worst subjects, probably because he wasn't exactly the greatest in Herbology either. Thankfully Tegan was his partner though, maybe he'd not have to study so hard with her helping him. Not that he'd admit something like that to her.
While they managed to get through class without Jax blowing anything up, there were a few mishaps in class at other tables already. Of course this irritated Professor Leafdale, but someone of them were pretty funny. Thankfully class seemed to go by rather quickly though and in no time it was time for them to go to transfiguration. Jaxon liked transfiguration class. Professor Spinner was odd, but Jax was hoping to become an animagus one day so he would work hard at that class.
Arriving Jax pointed to an empty table and looked at Tegan, "Should we sit together again?" He was sure Tegan wouldn't particularly mind. Transfiguration had joint tables, but at their level they didn't really do partner work in the class, so it really was just desk mates they would be. It didn't take Cypress long to glide into the room. She always walked as if she were just floating across the floor. Some of the male students awed as she waltz in, she was a pretty teacher after all.
Looking around her class she clapped her hands obviously pleased with the bunch, "Oh good. I have beautiful students in my class!" Twirling around, pulling out her wand and pointing it at them she smiled, "Should we get started then?" Without warning she pointed to the student sitting at the table next to Jax and Tegan, "Victus alius bestia coturnix!" With a burst of light from her wand, the student now shifted into a small quail, squawking in fear. With a giggle, Professor Spinner looked about her class, "So human transfiguration. That's what we'll be learning this year. For those of you who hope to become certified animagus... I suggest studying particularly hard." Cypress' expression got serious just for a moment before retaining a smile and fluttering back to her desk. With a quick shot of her wand, the quail, changed back into a panicking student.

Mason snorted, “It’s gonna be a riot. Oh! Hot French girls! That’ll add even more to the excitement. And I’m sure they’ll be some good-looking dudes for you and Tegan, Kay.” Mason drummed his fingers on the table, as if that would make the foreign competitors appear from thin air. He added, “Just as long as the only guys aren’t fat Americans. That would be a bummer. Though then you would have the benefit of being out of everyone’s league, so that would be a confidence booster.” Mason winked.
Mason nearly rolled his eyes when Kaylynn entirely missed the fact that he was joking about fat Americans. Maybe she didn’t have a radar for humor. Nope, there it was, she caught on. But she was busy with logic. That was reasonable. Good logic was occasionally death to humor.
Then she changed to subject, to something very exciting. Mason practically jumped up, instead he beamed, “Course I am! How could I /not/?!” He waved his hands before him, as if painting a scene, “Can you imagine what an honor it would be to be the champion? Even if I didn’t win. Which I would probably. And all the excitement. I’d get to participate instead of just watch the action. How about you, will you be old enough when the time comes?”
--One class period later—
“Well, I gotta run, Kaylynn. I’ve got Transfiguration and if I don’t hurry someone will steal Tegan away from me. Nice talking to you, see you later!” Without waiting more than a heartbeat for a response, Mason was tearing through the halls of Hogwarts, taking the stairs two at a time because he could (about which Tegan often complained as she scampered after him). But he was alone, so Tegan’s struggles weren’t going to stop him now. Following a few flights of stairs he flew into Transfiguration, a few minutes before class was due to start. Tegan and Jaxon were already there, buddying it up like champs. Tegan, that scamp. Jaxon had probably cajoled her into abandoning Mason in favor of himself. Little did Jaxon realize that Mason could easily make that table a table for three. After all, there was an empty chair right next to them. And the table was certainly big enough. Many of the desks in the Transfiguration room fit three people. So it was lucky that Tegan and Jax had found their way into one of them.
Mason dropped into the seat next to Tegan, smirking, “Hey, kids. Miss me?” Tegan grinned, “Hello. I missed you so terribly my hair started falling out.” Mason rolled his eyes, “Okay, drama queen.”
Turning from their conversation as the noise in the classroom shifted from cheery conversation to slightly awed silence, Mason saw Professor Spinner prance in. Maybe prance was a bit too strong, but she walked differently than women Mason normally saw. She could probably carry a book on her head without it tipping off. Maybe Hogwarts taught poise and etiquette when she was in school. Regardless, her classes were generally interesting. And she was easy on the eyes. Not that Mason fawned over her necessarily. Well, not since fourth year anyway.
Then there was the incident with the quail. That certainly introduced the topic.
---
Tegan was glad to have Jax as her partner for Potions. Normally, Mason had been her partner, but he stopped taking the course after it was necessary. Tegan had been a little lonely thinking about attending the class without him. not that working with Jax and Mason was exactly the same. Mason had an entirely different energy. And kept a running commentary throughout the class. He would have totally lost focus due to the mishaps at the other tables. Yet he would have magically (figuratively speaking) finished the potion perfectly and on time. Tegan was still at a loss for how he managed this.
Class seemed to fly by and within what felt like minutes they were already seated together in Transfiguration. Mason came crashing in as usual. Tegan was glad to sit with him, but also suddenly apprehensive that she was going to end up being the wall of peace between the two boys. Well, they could always sit somewhere else for the next lesson to avoid conflict.
Tegan had been a bit apprehensive that they were going to start waving wands at each other in muddled attempts to transfigure their classmates as Professor Spinner had; however, instead she began with theory and incantations. Definitely a better choice to keep students from walking to the Hospital wing on chicken feet or sporting tails. Yikes.
The class ended without any sure incidents. Although, with a lot of disappointed faces at receiving a lecture instead of practice or anything more exciting than theory. Well, Tegan was confident that this was for the best. She would hate to harm one of her classmates for lack of preparation.
As they packed their things to go, Mason suddenly chirped, “Guess what I overheard at lunch?” Tegan raised a brow, awaiting the response, since he did not likely actually want them to guess. He continued, as predicted, “Professor Potts was talking about arranging decorations for the newcomers, looks like they’re coming sooner than we thought before. Maybe they’ll arrive tonight. Though wouldn’t that be a bit much since they haven’t even sought to announce the tournament to use yet?” Tegan suggested, “Maybe they mean to tell us and then introduce the other schools at the same time.” Mason sighed, “Still, that would be a bit dramatic don’t you think? What are you guys doing next? No more class today at least.”

Kay wasn’t sure if she wanted to deal with ‘hot dudes’ considering she had enough issues and really, in all honesty she doubted any of them would want to talk to a weird girl who talked to themselves. But it was nice of Mason to include her in his thoughts. She gave a small smile before he started to talk about how he wanted to put his name in. Would she be able to put her name in the Goblet of Fire. She thought abut it a moment before she nodded her head.
“I will be able too. Not sure if I will or not.” She shrugged her shoulders nervously. “I’m not into the idea of having all eyes on me.” Kaylynn admitted before sighing and looking down to her papers. It was odd her Mondays were going to be her homework block and study. She had only one class, which was good for her but made her wonder if she should have joined other classes.
Shaking her head about it she thought to ask a teachers advice before jumping to conclusions.
“Have a fun.” She spoke giving her a smile before turning back to her drawing. She had also been preparing for her first lesson of Care of the Magical creatures which would be tomorrow and being prepared was the one of the most important things to be when you had to deal with Hagrid as a teacher. He was a great one but liked to bring in scary creatures that normal people wouldn’t be very fond of.
Not her though.
As she sat she mumbled a few spells practicing before she fell silent and sighed. Dinner could come anytime now. She was growing lonely for some reason considering all her ‘friends’ were off and enjoying themselves. Kaylynn found her mind wandering to the Yule ball which would happen when the games started. To thoughts of maybe her being hosen—that was if she put her name in. Perhaps she would just because then she could prove to her butt of a brother she was worth of the Ravenclaw robe she wore.

Jaxon held back from groaning as Mason joined their table and immediately started his usual babbling. Well Jax thought it was babbling. Running a hand through his brightly read hair in irritation, he said nothing about the matter. There was no point in arguing before class started it would only get them both in trouble. This was not a class he wanted to be in trouble, in. He needed this class if he was going to become a certified animagus.
Jaxon probably took the most notes in this period than any other period they had today. He was actually good at transfiguration, but he would take no chances on missing something he may not have known. He'd have to look over the notes again when he had a moment to himself. As they were packing up to leave, Mason was once again talking, not that it was particularly surprising that he was doing so. He was talking about the not yet mentioned Tri-Wizard tournament again. It was pretty weird no one had said anything yet.
Of course overhearing the conversation just as the trio was leaving the class, Professor Spinner stopped them gracefully with a smile, "Oh but dear, handsome Mason... Sometimes dramatic can be so fun!" Without another word she left the class, and Jaxon raised and eyebrow, "She's so weird..." He muttered out loud. He figured that must have been a hint to the fact it would be announced today. "Anyway, I'm probably going to head to the dinning hall already. Ariella will probably be waiting." He had to check on his sister and make sure she hadn't gotten into any trouble or anything. Who knew what that girl would do when she was spaced out or talking to ghosts when she thought she was alone.
---- In the dinning hall Ari easily found Kaylynn as she was one of the few on her own, and with her head down in a notebook no less. The younger girl sat next to the elder one and smiled, "Hey Kaylynn! I guess I beat the others here." She mentioned at the note of Kay being on her own. "History of Magic was such a snore I had to get out of there!" She joked lightly, suddenly feeling as shy as she usually was and retracting a bit. "I hope I'm not disturbing you..." She mentioned suddenly looking around for her brother.

With the whole situation of living at Hogwarts alongside their professors, talking to professors outside of class was not as awkward of an experience as it might be for a student attending a regular private school in England where their evenings weren’t spent in the same building they had lessons. Though they also didn’t get to learn any magic spells, so there was that difference as well. Regardless, Professor Spinner didn’t always make the encounters outside of class exactly comfortable. She was so eccentric herself it was hard to act normally when she was floating nearby.
Today she left the three of them staring awkwardly after her, trying to decipher what exactly her commentary meant. Mason mumbled, “I’m not sure if I should be flattered or file a lawsuit.” He added, “She’s not wrong though. About my attractiveness and the benefits of dramatic flair.” Tegan rolled her eyes.
They then returned to the subject of what they were going to do now. Jax was planning on checking on his sister. Tegan found it nice that they got along so much that he needed to see how her day was going right away. She had never been able to decide if she wanted a younger sibling, but alas, she was an only child regardless if she wished to be or not.
Mason suggested, “Well, let’s all go down there. Maybe do some investigating about what’s going on tonight. Or whenever. Maybe the good-looking foreigners will be down there just waiting for some equally good-looking people to associate with.” Tegan didn’t really have a better idea, even if Mason’s reasoning was pretty stupid. But it was the first day and they didn’t have any homework that needed done already and she certainly wasn’t motivated enough to start studying on the first day of class. She nodded, “That sounds like a plan. I would like to go down there and catch up with everyone. I have not had the opportunity to speak with Thalia yet.”
The trio headed down to the Great Hall. When they arrived, the hall was mostly empty, though plenty of students were still milling around. Mason fluttered off to go talk to another group of students, searching for information about the Triwizard Tournament. Tegan instead spotted Kaylynn and Arianna talking to one another at the Ravenclaw table. Right where they had eaten lunch, in fact. Kaylynn must have decided to stay there instead of leaving and coming back during her free period.
Tegan turned to Jax, “This worked out nicely.” She waved at the other two as they walked up.

Kaylynn got lost in her notes once more. She was both drawing Fang for Hagrid but also remembering some notes on the creatures she had seen during her summer. Probably the only good thing about the summer if she blocked off all the ridicule and hatred. At the small voice that over came Kaylynns concentrating she looked up from her notebook seeing Ari standing close by.
Sending a warm, yet shy smile her way Kaylynn moved over so there was room close to her for Ari to sit; if she so wished that was. The hall was filling up. Perhaps classes had been let out. That was probably the correct assumption. The added noise did cause Kaylynn to frown but she ignored it. She had company.
“History of Magic does do that to a person.” Kaylynn spoke in her normal tone of voice. “It can be pretty interesting when they talk about Harry Potter but everyone knows that story by heart.” She admitted shrugging her shoulders.
“Oh no, you’re no bothering me. I have just been sitting here enjoying my free time.” She paused running a hand through her hair. “May add a few courses to my schedule I have far to much free time I think.” She shrugged her shoulders looking to see two familiar faces coming there way.
“It seems we have more company. I’m sure your brother will be here soon no doubt.” Kaylynn added to reassure the shy girl, she reminded Kaylynn of herself to be honest. It was nice to have someone to talk too.
“Learn anything interesting?” Kaylynn spoke to the two joining the table. “I feel as if we will be having great news the teachers who were not teaching class have been in and out of the hall all free period.” She closed her book. “More then likely preparing for the visitors.”
