Kaylynn moved her things from the spot so that the even later student had a place to sit before she turned to look at Mason with a shrug. “Well, uh I have been here for a long time.” She said a little embarrassed to admit it but most people knew that she was a punctual, goodie two shoes much like a lot of the Ravenclaws she knew. Not to mention weird. No one would let her forget that she was weird no matter how hard she tried to forget that thought.
“As for sleep, I um got a pretty good sleep. A lot of the people in my dorm room talked well into the night, but I found a way to sleep before it became too much an issue.” She said with a shrug, truthfully she had spent some time in her journal but it was just better to not mention that around Mason. He had a tendency to snatch it from her and look at it. She didn’t mind but it was a little embarrassing to have to explain all her notes in it.
Once Kaylynn had finished her sentence it seemed the professor had had quite enough of the chatting going on, angerly clearing there throat before telling them to open there book to page 24. Kaylynn did as she was told looking down at her pages. Oh good, it was the stuff she had already read before the class came in. Wonderful.

Chaz took one long moment to stretch his arms above his head as he slowly made his way to the Herbology class. He wasn’t in too much of a hurry, though in all respect he should not be late on the first day, it was not a good sign to the teachers, but at the moment he didn’t care. He was too tired to care. As much as chatting with friends and getting to catch up was fun even he had to draw the line at 3-4 in the morning like some of the students had done that night. Sure he was a slight insomniac but that didn’t give the few students being loud the right to laugh well into the night.
Shaking his head he just threw the thought away, it was one night and he should have expected it. It was the last year and people were excited. As was he. But at the same time he was also very nervous, why was that? The future was a little nerve wracking, but again why think about it too much? He would survive. He had gone through worse that was for sure.
Like saying good bye to your parents again, who had asked hundreds of times if he was sure he wanted to go back to Hogwarts. Course he did, he loved it here. It was lively, exciting and gave him the sense that he was special, unlike muggle school. He could perform magic, play violin do anything he liked to do. Sure the teachers were strict and he got in trouble more often than he cared to admit but it felt like home. And his parents just didn’t like seeing their only child gone for so long. He couldn’t blame them but he sent an owl almost every week to make up for it, so that should help right?
“You are late Mr. McLauren, but I shouldn’t be surprised should I.” the professor said frowning at him as Chaz rubbed the back of his neck.
“Only by a few minutes, won’t happen again.” He said shrugging and taking the only open seat and placing his books down, noticing everyone had their books open, he saw the page on the board and turned to it. Herbology, a class he could sleep in perhaps.

There was silence, at least around his table, up until the point in which class started. Before then no one bothered him. No one poked him with some stupid instrument they found laying around the class, joked around with him, scribbled in his textbooks, or even tapped their disgusting fingers on the table he sat behind. They didn't bother him or nothing. And it was the true magic of Hogwarts. Already he began to open his book and read even though it wasn't asked of him yet. Being absorbed in the boring words that tried to entice him with scientific and magical definitions J.T relaxed knowing that for now his mind was in a safe heaven inside his own head. Where it should be for anyone. In their own head...not spewing from their mouths like the unintelligent specimens they've evolved to be.
Unfortunately a minute or two passed, maybe even more, before the door opened again. From the dim lights of Hogwarts stepped another seventh year male, this one of Hufflepuff, who J.T noted to be on the border of an idiot. By the purple under his eyes it was clear this kid did not sleep again, so J.T was blessed with the horrid task of watching out for a waste of space. If he is going to sleep in his classes he might as well just stay in his house's dorm. That way other people who are trying to focus on their studies don't have to give up their space in order to make room for someone who's probably just snoring through every lesson. What a nuisance. Still...this kid wasn't too bad. After all, he played the violin. A favorite and long time friend of Jeong-Tae's. There is some decency in this boy.
That didn't stop J.T from glowering at Chaz from the corner of his eye. But to maintain some acceptable aura between the two Jeong did not move his chair away or try and lean farther from Chaz. Instead he kept where he was as to not indicated too much that he was uncomfortable with his sudden appearance. At least he tried to see what he missed by opening his book. He came in late so he only saw the page up on the bored, not where the students actually were. Against his preferences, J.T muttered just loud enough for Chaz to hear him, and maybe a faint whisper to those in front.
"Turn two pages. The teacher himself didn't even bother with the context of what you're reading."
-----------------------
When Kay's voice rang out through the short conversation between her and Mason, Aera's eyes darted over her shoulder to see the younger girl sitting there. Quiet as usual, no wonder Aera didn't even notice. Something about the way she greeted them kinda rubbed Aera the wrong way. She was probably just being paranoid. Sure Kay said hello to Mason first and asked him how he was...then finally acknowledged Aera was there, too. Well, whatever. She deserved it. It's just Karma's way of telling her to be more observant with who's around you. Fine. Noted.
While the two talked Arabella just turned her own way and started shuffling through random pages. Sometimes she could find interesting comments or doodles through the pages, in which case, she would reply in hopes that it would start a story for the next few years. She's seen it only once in a book she had but she was unfortunately not the one to start it. Besides, the books are examined -at random- to ensure that no kids are leaving any hints to the younger years about what they should do on the tests. Damn, some of those notes are pretty good, too.
Before she could find anything even remotely interesting in her book that wasn't in ancient ruins itself, Aera heard the flipping of pages echo and looked around to see that everyone had designated themselves responsible by actually listening to the teacher. Turning around to see what page they were on -since Kay was more likely to have listened properly than Mason-, Aera found herself quickly sliding her finger across the pages until she read "24."
Already her good mood began to dwindle.

Tegan nodded slowly at Jaxon’s first comment. It was not exactly friendly. Although she supposed it was not the worst answer. It was just straightforward and simple. And presumably honest. She ran her finger along the side of her feather quill, wondering if she was supposed to shut up after such a terse answer. It was rude, after all, to press someone into conversation after they indicated with short answers that they were not willing to chat any more. He offered no elaboration on his morning or excitement. So Tegan was suddenly worried that she had chosen her seat incorrectly. Maybe he really had wanted to be alone and she had rudely interrupted him. But she decided that was a little bit too much pressure to put on herself. Someone else would have sat by him eventually. And with his general negative attitude (or so she observed) and the fact that he had yet to sit with any of his housemates, she was not the worst person who could have sat next to him. Mason was not yet in the room, and Tegan was confident that Mason would annoy Jaxon more than she could.
Jaxon, however, relieved some of her anxieties when he answered her second question about the year. Well, apparently he did not dislike her seating choice as much as she had initially worried. That took a sliver of worry off her mind, though she had already mostly talked herself out of moving. Tegan nodded, making a noise of agreement without actually talking and interrupting him. NEWTs were called nastily exhausting for a reason. All the studying was enough to drive anyone to madness.
Tegan was momentarily confused about his question. What about her? Then she realized he was just reflecting her question back to her. Like a normal person might do in conversation. Except, a little strangely. Maybe that was why he always seemed so frightening, because he was actually not a good interlocutor and didn’t like to speak much.
Tegan placed her quill in front of her, twisting to face him in a more conducive manner for conversation. She shrugged a shoulder, “Yes, I suppose I am excited. But I am also rather anxious. After all, the new material should certainly prove fascinating and helpful. We will finally have an opportunity to study the spells the professors always insisted were too advanced for us. However, the new material could also provide some challenges. The OWLs were stressful and the NEWTs are meant to be more complex, so I agree, the studying will be intense.” She sighed, “And it will be especially difficult for this course. I spent hours last year studying for this OWL.” Tegan rubbed her face just thinking about the lost sleep, in a small effort to wipe away the memory.
---
Mason had just opened his mouth to continue talking with Kaylynn when the professor rudely interrupted. Well, not actually rudely, they were in class after all. Page 24, she said, with an air of impatience. Apparently waiting on student chatter was not her idea of a perfect morning.
Angling himself in his seat to provide a better view of his classmates and the professor, Mason flicked to the page, browsing the runes momentarily. Some were familiar. Some were new or forgotten. Well, he was just glad the knowledge hadn’t miraculously disappeared over the holiday as they often do in nightmares.
---Baby timeskip---
After class, Mason stood up, stretching. He felt his back crack. At least he was more awake now than when class started. The lecture had been entertaining. At least as much as Ancient Runes could be. They had learned about some new runes from an earlier century than they usually studied. Some of them had been modified later in the centuries to morph into more familiar runes. So it was interesting to see the ties between the more ancient runes and the less ancient runes. Some of the other kids were moaning slightly. Although, Mason didn’t quite understand why they were so cranky on the first day of school. Then again, it was the absolute first class, so they were probably all more than a little bit tired. But they signed up for the class, he did not feel a lot of sympathy.
Mason chatted for some brief moments with their other classmates before he turned to Aera, “Well, I guess it’s time to go to DADA. We’ll see you at lunch or something, right, Kaylynn?” After listening for her answer, he started off to their next class, leaving Aera to take care of herself walking with him to class. Mason smiled, “That was pretty fun. Oh yeah, did you ever figure out if you got stuck with that remedial course? And if so, do you know who decided that as your punishment, because I want to talk to them about why they picked it. Seems silly to me.”

As the awkward experience of becoming deskmates dragged on, Jaxon was actually a little releived to hear Tegan's answer to the question. So she had trouble in DADA. Even someone who studied as dillegently as her had problems in certain subjects. This made him feel better about the subjects he wasn't so good at.
In his new found good mood, Jax accidentally blurted out, "This is my second best subject. I could always help you if you needed." Realizing what he had just offered he had cursed himself mentally. What if she really took him up on that. Then he would most definitely be forced to hang around those other idiots as well. So he added, "If I can find time." That probably wouldn't deter her fully, but it would at least make her bother him less about it. Maybe.
He looked to her, his naturally serious face looking angry even though he wasn't in a bad mood at the moment. "Seeing as you are my desk partner though, any partner work we may have you will need to work extra hard at. I don't want to look foolish." Right because putting pressure on someone like that was helpful. But that was just Jaxon. And in an odd way this was him being friendly.

After Tegan’s complaint about the difficult of DADA, Jaxon immediately stated that this was his second best subject. Tegan wondered a moment what his best was, but dismissed that as a Mason-ish question, which she would be better off avoiding. Especially considering Jaxon’s feelings about Mason.
Tegan breathed, before she even had the chance to think about her response, “Really?” Fantastic. Now she knew someone who was actually really good at the subject. Tegan supposed that Mason was relatively good in the course, but he was not always a pleasant study partner. After all, he thought a million miles a minute and talked in pieces, sometimes leaving her to switch topics every sentence. And sometimes, that was helpful, but not so much for DADA. It made little enough sense to her without Mason’s assistance. Plus, studying with someone new might be helpful in and of itself.
But Jaxon quickly squelched her excitement with his additional comment. If he had time. Of course, he was busy studying for his own NEWTs. And he probably didn’t have time to help out a girl he was hardly friends with. Tegan would not want to bother him by asking too much. Maybe if he brought it up again. Tegan fiddled with her earring, “Thank you for the offer. Naturally, I understand that you may be busy.” She took a breath, adding, “Though I would have to return the favor if you were to help me study. I could help you study other subjects. Of course, I am not implying you cannot study for yourself, but sometimes it is nice to have a helping hand.” Tegan did not want to offend a possibly study partner and friend by implying that he was stupid and clearly needed her help. But she certainly could not accept his offer of helping without offering herself. It was just not in her nature to do otherwise.
Tegan glanced briefly at the front of the class when Jax glanced over at her. For some reason, she felt the need to break eye contact. Perhaps, because, when she looked back, he looked rather angry. She had not meant to offend him. Tegan adjusted the cuffs of her long-sleeved shirt, suddenly feeling as if they were out of place. She nodded, still looking at her cuffs, “Well, I generally put my best effort into all of my work, so I doubt that will be an issue.”

Chaz had not even took notice of who he was sitting by, he just had sat down in the last empty seat he could spot without causing to much of a distraction to the rest of the class. Yawning he looked to his seating-buddy at his sudden whisper and he couldn’t help but give him a kind grin.
“Oh, hey J.T. Should’ve thought I’d be sitting beside you.” He grinned then looking to his book to turn the pages over, he had not realized that they would have skipped pages. Apparently he had not been the only one who was lazy that morning.
Falling into a little bit of silence again he looked over the book rubbing his tired eyes before leaning his head back. “Damn I need some coffee or something. People should learn to go to bed..” He mumbled under his breath before looking down at the book again. The stuff that they were covering had been what he had read a few nights in a row, lucky him. He knew what she was talking about for once.
Hopefully things stayed that way. If he kept on his homework, kept out of trouble time would be good hear. He had to get something to help him sleep though, perhaps there was a charm or potion he could make that would help.
Maybe he would go talk to Professor Landon sometime when he wasn’t busy.
Chaz opened his mouth to say something in a low murmur to J.T but he stopped himself. The guy was a stickler for rule’s, and if he talked to much the guy would probably blow a gasket on him. He was a little intimidating, at least when they first met a few years back but they had a neutral understanding.
He played the violin, he couldn’t be that bad. And it was nice to have someone super smart to help him with stuff, not that he ever did but it could happen at some time. Maybe this last year, though he had feeling he was having wishful thinking.

Nearing the end of the class J.T already had his stuff packed and ready to go to the next class. Even though the current one didn’t end for another 10 minutes. Since the class, or the teacher, seemed to slow, he figured they wouldn’t do much besides verbally discuss what they had just gone through. Besides, most of it was orientation to what they will be doing this year since it’s all more advanced as a seventh year. A funny but cruel thought came to mind as Jeong listened to the teacher and read through his notebook of what is expected of them, being fully aware that Arabella wouldn’t be able to pass this class if she is to continue on her cruddy educational path. With her special ability as a Metamorphmagus it made J.T feel like the better cousin when their intelligence and willingness to succeed are compared. If it was a competition, which to Jeong-Tae it is, he would certainly win long before Aera could catch up.
Enough of that. At the moment he focused on the people around him and then ultimately Chaz, who he saw open his mouth only for a second before clamping it back shut. Had the sleep depraved classmate forgotten what he wanted to say? Seemed likely and unsurprising. Nevertheless, Jeong turned his full attention on to Chaz in those brief moments as though waiting for him to say something. When it was clear that he decided to remain mute, the Korean boy could only hide his relief. Perhaps he was being too harsh today…no, it was the last year of Hogwarts. J.T had to be strict and focused, little unnecessary chatter is just that. Unnecessary.
When the time was up and the teacher excused the students from class, J.T stuffed away his notebook and headed straight towards the door. He didn’t bother saying goodbye to Chaz or anything, but before he would officially make his way out the class, he stopped by the door and kept it open for the others to pass before him. Looking over his shoulder Jeong had given Chaz a slight bow of a head. He might not like people but that certainly doesn’t give him the right to push aside their existence as though they were all muggle trash. After all, that stupid promise Aera made him vow to on ‘being a nicer guy’ or whatever. This will most definitely be a frustrating year.
J.T remained at the door and kept it open for all the other classmates, knowing he’d feel rude if he only opened it for some and then closed it on the faces of others. It still made his hand twitch as he didn’t want to be late to his Charms class.
-------------------------------
Aera had felt herself doze off a couple of times during class. She didn’t find any of this particularly interesting so she wasn’t about to keep her attention keen and focused on what she should. Once she had even face planted into her book for a second only to wake up on impact. After that she managed to keep her eyes open, although her sights were diverted to random areas all over the class. Honestly, Aera felt like she should know this stuff by now. Had she already taken an Ancient Runes class? Hm, that’s a good question.
Before she could ask Mason if he knew about her previous class history she heard a crack emitted from his spine, and then she realized class was over. Okay, so maybe she’d been falling asleep throughout the class more than she’d care to admit, but the first hour still seemed pretty short today. As she looked up at Mason her trail of thought had left her and so she waited for him to end his conversations before getting up. If she remembered correctly on the train, Mason had DADA next hour…and Tegan. Oh. Maybe even Jax too. Fun, fun…as Mason began to flee from this dreadful class of Runes and Ancient stuff, or Ancient Runes, whatever the heck, Arabella trailed beside him casually. She always felt like she had some sort of superiority over him and Tegan because she was older than the two, although her placement as a sixth year certainly makes the questionable. When the blabber-mouth began to speak per usual his words were directed towards Aera. Shrugging a shoulder and giving a roll of her neck to release some tension, Aera sighed and looked at Mason dumbly.
“Yeah, I have the class. Don’t know what brilliant professor decided I needed to be in it again, but when I find out…HA! I’ll show him, her, it, he-she that I know darn well how to use my magic!” Getting excited over a little idea she rushed in almost a panic “Buuut I don’t mean that I’m going to hurt them or anything! That would just be messed up.” A few moments as they began to walk Arabella looked back up at Mason curiously. “So, you and Tegan are in DADA 2nd period, right?” Pulling out the piece of paper with J.T’s fine hand writing scribbled all over it, she scanned over her class schedule to make sure she had DADA as well. “Cause’ I totally have that, too…unless Jeong-Jeong is playing a trick on me.” Peering at the paper more intently as though her eyes could see right through it, she silently laughed knowing that the name Jeong-Tae and the word ‘Trick’ could fit properly in the same sentence. Not by funny means.
From the back of her mind Aera was punching herself.
She'd forgotten about Kay again.

As Tegan seemed to get the message of Jaxon not wanting to be overly bothered, he wondered if maybe he was a bit harsh with her. After all it wasn't Tegan per-say who annoyed him. It was more like Mason, and sometimes that Metamorphmagus... And really he just didn't like Jeong-Tae though he was tolerable because he didn't say much. The point was, Tegan he didn't mind, he just didn't want to have to be around those other baboons just because he offered to help her.
As she reciprocated his offer of helping him study, then flustered over the fact that she was not trying to insult him, he had given a nod. Though he was looking back at his book as opposed to looking at her when he spoke. "I suppose I could use some extra study help in the potions or herbology department." Of course he wasn't going to straight up admit those subjects were harder for him. But he had to at least admit enough so that he could gain the help. Studying for N.E.W.T.s was stressful enough without having to worry about passing a stupid class easily or failing because he was reluctant to get some help.
As she mentioned always doing her best work, Jax nodded. "Right. I guess I didn't really need to say that to you. It's not like you're that overly talkative idi-" Stopping himself he cleared his throat and changed what he was going to say, "--Guy... Mason." The multi-colored haired male was actually kind of glad Tegan was the one who sat next to him. If any of those other fools had this class, and Tegan wasn't already his desk mate... Who knows he might have gotten stuck with one of the super talkative ones who always seemed distracted from class.
Looking at the clock in the classroom, Jaxon gave a sigh and then glanced toward Tegan. "I wonder when class will start. I didn't think I was this early." Of course just as he said that the professor walked in. He looked around the room again at the empty seats wondering if people were running late. He supposed they could be it was only the first day of class, but still they were sixth years. They should know their way around school already. Shouldn't they?

Tegan’s heart was still trying to take up residence in her throat when Jaxon finally nodded. He was not offended by her offer for help. Tegan swallowed, trying to force herself to settle down at least a little bit. This entire conversation seemed like something of a gambit for friendship. Thankfully, Jax did not seem too angry or upset, so maybe it would work out. Her heart made an attempted return trip to her throat at the thought of actually being friends with Jax. It was a rare opportunity, for he was so…edgy most of the time. Tegan was pretty sure several of their classmates actively avoided Jax because of his demeanor. However, he had never upset Tegan enough to convince her to avoid him, so she would try to take the best of this chance.
Tegan bounced up when he mentioned that he might want her assistance with Potions. Well, and Herbology. But potions was what she was focusing on. She was decent at Herbology, if only because she lived in the Hufflepuff common room amongst the myriad of plants that needed constant student care. However, Potions was one of her best subjects. So she could easily help him with that.
Tucking her leg underneath her in her excitement, Tegan chattered, “I can definitely help you study for Potions. I am not positive about how much I can help you with Herbology. Many of my housemates are much better at Herbology than I am, but I can surely offer you some help.” She paused a moment, glancing at her blank parchment before her as a small means of distraction, “That is, if we decide to study together.”
Tegan raised her brows at Jax’s comment about Mason. Well, she certainly had not thought of Mason and Jax as friends, but his comment was almost comical as he tried to back up over his insult. Still, Tegan felt the need to correct his impression of Mason. She intended to comment on how entirely wonderful Mason could be. When he applied himself, he was actually quite brilliant. After all, he constantly succeeded at DADA because it entertained him enough to attract his full attention. However, the only words that escaped her lips were, “I suppose you are correct.” Tegan added, talking a bit too quickly, “Although, Mason possesses the strange ability to talk and listen at the same time, so do not feel discouraged by his general chattiness.”
Tegan shrugged a shoulder in response to Jax’s comment. She suggested, “Perhaps the professor woke up late. Is there a Defense Against the Dark Arts class before ours?” Tegan turned in her seat to look at the door, untucking her legs from beneath her as she did so. The professor walked into the room, his robes flowing behind him as he hurried to the front of the room with his arms full of books. Just as Tegan was starting to worry that Mason and Aera were never going to arrive, Mason appeared in the doorway. Though the professor had beaten them into the room, but it was not as if the lesson already began.
---
Mason chuckled when Aera defined actually hurting a teacher as messed up. Strange for a girl who spent half of her time tricking her friends in regards to her identity. Apparently hurting people crossed the line. Mason wondered, “I hope it doesn’t mess with your class hours too much. Running across the castle just to have class with first years. Though, you’ll be the smartest one in the room at least. And they’ll probably all do your bidding. Do you still have your textbook from first year or did you have to buy another one?”
Strolling along, Mason answered, “Yeah. Speaking of, we’re almost there. Good thing or we’d be late.” He leaned over to glance at Aera’s schedule. Jeong-Tae apparently filled it out. Judging from the neat handwriting that did not belong to Aera as well as her comment about the boy attempting to trick her by writing a false schedule. Mason said, “I think he would have been better off to let you flounder without a schedule than write you a fake one.”
With that, they arrived in the classroom, apparently on the heels of the professor for he was just walking past the rows of desks to the front of the room. Mason strode in, glancing around the room for Tegan, maybe she was late too. Probably lost helping first years. Actually, no. She was sitting adjacent to Jaxon, though she was completely turned in her seat to look towards the door. Had she been waiting to switch seats? She was not getting up though. And all her books were unpacked, so she had apparently chosen to remain where she was. Mason had to wonder why. It was not as if they were really friends with Jax. They rarely spoke except for the train ride yesterday. And all that was over the course of the past five years. What a strange time to make a new friend. But Tegan was nice like that. Or maybe she thought Jax somehow needed her help and that was why she sat there. Or she wanted to afford Aera and him the opportunity to share a desk.
Mason was still a bit miffed though, Tegan and he only had two classes together this year and he had hoped to be deskmates for both of them. He would just have to settle for Transfiguration then. And tackle her before she had the opportunity to pick some other random sixth year for her partner then.
Tegan waved at them. Mason walked over to her and Jax, “Long time no see.” By now, the professor had started shuffling papers and looked a bit irritated. Well, after six years of the same professor, Mason knew the signs that the man was going to start the class or hex all of them to start it.
Mason sighed, “I guess we’ll talk after class.” Grabbing Aera’s arm to ensure that they both got seated before the professor got too angry about their slight tardiness and then apparently unwillingness to settle down, Mason slid into a seat at a desk one row closer to the teacher and to the left from where Tegan and Jax were. It was the closest open desk to the pair of them, so it seemed a natural choice. Mason also took the seat closer to them so he could attempt to eavesdrop. Not because they would have any particularly fascinating conversations in class, but because he wanted to know what was going on.
However, the professor started to talk, cutting off any more interesting topics Tegan and Jaxon may have delved into.
DADA was certainly more entertaining than Ancient Runes on that particular morning. Professor Higgins decided that since it was their first morning back, they ought to attempt to recover some of the knowledge he was certain had escaped out their ears over the holiday. They each had to demonstrate a spell from their class last year. It was not particularly exciting, but it finally got Mason’s head from the clouds and back into schoolwork. Or spellwork really. One boy, forgetting to pronounce his incantation carefully, though they were in their sixth year and he ought to have been clever enough to avoid it, ended up hexing the girl in front of him to have purple hair. Higgins jumped in just in time to save the offending boy from enduring a rather nasty spell at the girl’s hand.
Other than that, everyone else’s spells were tame. If only because the failed ones did not receive such a negative response. By the end of the lesson, the purple-haired victim was still fuming, but her hair appeared to be returning to its natural blonde, shade by shade. As soon as they were dismissed, she stormed out, dragging one of her friends in her wake. Presumably she was off to complain about what a nincompoop the boy was.
Mason crammed his supplies back in his bag, picking up his wand last to tuck it back in his robes for safe-keeping. He tried to be careful with his wand for the most part, since that would be more difficult to replace than a broken quill, so he never kept the wand in his satchel, lest it befall a terrible fate. Mason stood up, hopping over to Tegan’s desk, figuring Aera would join the conversation if she felt the need to chat.
Mason said, “Finally, we get to say our hellos. I can’t believe you beat us to class. We were just on time, but you’re always running late. Yet here you were, already. Did the first years have some sort of tour service, so they didn’t need your help or something?” Tegan shook her head, “I suppose I simply had an early start and an appropriate amount of sleep.” Mason teased, “Ah, yes. And the sleep allowed you to move with super speed, so you were early.” Tegan rolled her eyes, standing up with her bag, “Do you want to go to lunch now or complain about my timeliness?” Mason poked her, “Yeah, I can see you’re shrinking by the second, let’s eat. I haven’t had anything since my toast two some hours ago.” As they started to walk, Tegan turned to Jax, politely offering, “You are welcome to join us if you wish.” They hardly ever obeyed the concept of sitting only with their housemates at lunch. Though at dinner, that still seemed to remain the tradition. Lunch was, however, so much more open with habits, so students often took the chance to sit with their friends who were not their housemates during the lunch hour.

Jaxon noted that Tegan seemed to regain her excitement as he mentioned subjects that she could possibly help him with in return to his aide with this particular class. His thoughts were confirmed when she mentioned she could in fact help him, though she wasn't sure if she could help with Herbology. He was certain she was much better at it than he was though. Herbology was just entirely too boring to him, and his lack of interest in that field made potions that much more difficult since you used plants in various potions. "Well it does seem that it would be beneficial for us to occasionally be study partners then." He reaffirmed trying to give the girl a little more reassurance that they would probably study together. Just maybe not when there was a whole group to judge him on how poor he does at potions.
As Tegan made a semi-attempt to stand up for Mason, Jaxon could only nod. His opinion remained the same of the fellow, even if he was listening all the while he was talking. It was just his incessant questions that were really annoying. He didn't need to know everyone's business did he? Though Jax was convinced that Mason probably thought he would die if he didn't find out all the answers to his questions.
As Tegan made mention of the professor in addition to Jax's comment on when class would start, as if by magic -haha- the professor walked in. He seemed as grumpy as usual, though that didn't bother Jax in the least. After all, most professors didn't complain about the guy. He was normally quiet in class - though this was due to the fact no one really talked to him in class. Just as the professor walked in so did Aera and Mason. Mason made a quick comment on not seeing each other in awhile before deciding being quiet was the best option.
DADA seemed to fly by. Though that was usually the opinion of Jaxon, as he enjoyed this class. Mostly because he particularly excelled at it, though it was also purely in his interests. Professor Higgins seemed to be in a lenient mood today, though that quickly changed as someone turned another students hair purple. Idiots. Class was relatively relaxed otherwise and it was over in no time. They were quickly joined by Mason as soon as class was over. He chatted on to Tegan about how she was on time instead of late, however the girl brushed it off and mentioned lunch. She also extended the invitation toward Jaxon, who had just finished putting away his things. Giving a shrug he nodded his head. "Sure." Was his response.
Aera and Mason were not particularly people he was fond of, but he figured eating lunch with people who were in his classes, couldn't hurt. His usual buddies were taking mostly different subjects from himself due to picking different jobs for the future.

The thought of actually knowing what the class was about for once had CHz feeling a little less tired, and more interested in what the teacher was talking about. That feeling, of course, disappeared after about a half hour of the class where the teacher took a totally different turn in the subject. Chaz found himself a little lost for a moment but picked it up. Lucky for him, he wasn’t that dumb. Not yet, but after already feeling lost for a few short moments his confidence had been shattered. This year was going to be different then others. He would have to actually try, he would actually have to figure out what it was he wanted.
And it scared him a little bit. But he wouldn’t tell anyone that. That was for him alone.
After class had finished J.T. had gotten up out of his seat and be lined it for the door. Chaz had had the plan to talk to him after but he seemed to be gone. Unlike other students, Cha liked to linger in class for a bit, rushing out didn’t really save you that much time in a huge school like this. If you waited for the large crowds you could make it to your next class, more often than not, on time.
Looking up for a moment after gathering the rest of his books he saw J.T. give him a polite nod, Chaz gave a smile with a nod back before watching the guy go. Should he run to met up with him? Probably not he had his classes to head too. And J.T. would have walked a lot faster then he would have. Naw,next time he would talk to the guy
---
At the end of class Kay gathered her things up. She hadn’t anything really planned for her free block, considering she didn't take DADA. It wasn’t a subject she had ever had a lot of enjoyment out of. Most of the horrid things the students were taught about she had seen herself, and the idea of having to show how afraid she was of the dark arts just didn’t seem like fun. So when it became elective it had flown off her schedule right away.
Walking out with her classmates, who were having a discussion on there next class Kaylynn fell slight and just listened. Area had been talking to Mason anyways and she wasn’t going to interrupt there discussion. Perhaps she should have talked to her earlier. No matter they would be late if she tried to talk know.
“Yeah, I think I am going to go say hi to Hagrid with my free block.” Kaylynn said responding to Mason’s question. “Have fun in DADA, Area, Mason.” She said being friendly and hurrying off into the crowd of students rushing to their classes. With that thought, Kaylynn hurried down towards Hagrids hut. If he was busy with students she would go and read something in the common room.
----Lunchtime
It was finally lunch time and after a fitting morning of class, and visiting with old friends Kaylynn hurried to find a table for her lunch. Course, she was a little early so students still seemed to be coming in. That was good for her, she could tackle any homework that was given to them in the first block she had. One thing you had to know about Kaylynn was that she did her homework always early. That way she always knew it was done. With her mind, always getting distracted by the smallest of things, it was normal for her to forget important things. It was no matter though.
At that thought she remembered the sketch she had started of Fang when she was with Hagrid just minuets before, and decided to take a seat on a far table to finish it while she ate. Maybe she would also see Mason and Area as well. Though they may have decided to sit with their own friends from there groups. But who knew right?
--
It was finally lunch. Chaz could finally rest his head on the table and take a nap. And that was what he was going to do, if he could sleep of course. It was a hard thing to do considering the chatter everyone seemed to do. Aw well, sleep was for the week and he had homework he could do. Later. That sounded like a lot more fun then doing it at that very moment.

By the time class started, Tegan was immensely relieved. Not only had she managed to navigate the rather nerve-wracking conversation with Jaxon, she had also partially ensured a study partner. And he had not chewed her out about her point on Mason’s ability to multi-task. Tegan barely contained openly expressing how relieved she was that that did not undermine their entire previous conversation.
Despite the relative success of this conversation, Tegan was rather surprised that Jaxon had agreed to join them for lunch. She had offered to be nice, because that was the sum of all of her actions, but she had expected him to refuse in favor of his housemates and other friends. Perhaps they were in a fight? Or maybe he was looking to make new friends? Or he found it rude to refuse her offer?
Regardless, it seemed their group had grown. Well, at least for the lunch hour. Tegan smiled, gesturing for Mason and Aera to walk ahead because she was well aware that Mason and Jaxon could not be trusted to walk together. For the sake of getting to lunch peacefully at least.
---
Mason was admittedly, rather shocked that Tegan even invited Jax in the first place. But he should have known better. She probably could not have lived with herself at the thought of “poor” Jax sitting all on his lonesome. While Mason found this rather doubtful, he at least understood Tegan’s worried train of thought.
What was even more surprising was the “sure” she got as an answer. That was unusual. He had expected Jaxon to decline. Mason was aware that Jaxon didn’t seem all too fond of him. Did he like Aera and Tegan that much that it outweighed Mason? Or maybe Mason was mistaken and Jaxon only disliked him a little bit. Well, regardless, they were stuck with him for the hour.
And Tegan was forcing Mason and Aera ahead. Mason was near to taking insult, but figured Tegan was probably trying to avoid a fight.
Mason sighed, “I’m going. Quit pushing me, T.” Tegan smirked, “That sentence rhymed.” Mason nodded, “I’m a poet and I didn’t even know it!” Tegan rolled her eyes, “I had not realized we had returned to primary school.” Mason shrugged, setting a quicker pace down to the Great Hall before they dallied any further.
Mason glanced around the room, deciding it was his job to select their seat. He spotted Kaylynn and immediately determined that they were sitting with her, since she was alone. Between the group of them, they quickly surrounded her. Walking up behind her, Mason exclaimed, “Kaylynn! Mind if we sit down?”
However, he did not really wait for permission for more than a second though, walking around the other side of the table and seating himself across from Kaylnn and dragging Tegan into the seat next to him. She looked a bit affronted, but turned her attention to trying to pour everyone’s drinks from the nearby pitchers. She queried, “What would everyone like to drink?” She turned her head to Jax, somewhat including him in the group by taking his request first.

Kaylynn was engrossed in her sketch of Fang trying to get every detail she could remember from the quick visit she had spent with her friend. The dog was old, and she half wondered what kinda stories he could tell if he could speak English like humans. Kaylynn often wondered if there was a spell she could create that would allow her to speak to the animals in the world. That would be a fascinating endeavor for someone to create. Perhaps she could create it, or maybe it already existed she just hadn’t found it.
Kaylynn hadn’t even noticed her friends take a seat before Tegan spoke causing her to look up and see four people sitting at the same table as her. Giving them a smile she greeted them with a nod. “Well it is good to see you guys again, and so soon too.” She said laughing lightly before putting her pencil down to give them more of her attention, it was better this way. In a way it lifted her heart to know that she had been noticed, and they wanted to sit by her.
Even before her brother could come and bother her about being alone. Now, she wasn’t alone.
“How was Defence Against the Dark Arts? Was it exciting, I’m guessing it was.” She asked looking to them all, not really caring who would answer her question just as long as someone answered.
“I saw a girl storming off with a shade of purple hair while I was in the hallways earlier, and normally those kind of incidents happen from the DADA. Not to mention she was also fuming about a boy and that class as well, so um yeah.” She paused rubbing the back of her neck embarrassed and out of things to say before looking to her drawing again.

“You’ve got to be kidding me…” muttered Aera under snappish breath. She had been digging through her backpack ever since class started in a panic to find her wand. It turned out that she went the entire class hour without her wand, meaning she looked like an utter fool when it came time for her to practice the magic she learned from last year. Not like she remembered much anyways. Still better than having to do nothing and then fail at conjuring up a spell from memory without a wand and having it vanquish in a tiny spark on the table. Ugh. She’ll have to ask Jeong-Tae where her wand is. It wouldn’t surprise her if he had it. He probably purposely decided not to give her the wand as a way to punish her for lack of responsibility. But isn’t there some strong connection n between a wand and its user? How could she not notice it was gone…
Before she knew it, class was up. Finally and thank God. Excusing herself from her seat and immediately leaving the class, she stopped herself at the door and waited cross-armed for Mason and Tegan to catch up. They were chatting a little bit and Aera couldn’t help but roll her eyes. So this is how J.T felt when he had to always wait on her. Wow. Suckish feeling. But that wasn’t what bothered her. Instead she saw that Jaxon guy and Tegan talking. She wasn’t about to say that they weren’t allowed…but come on! It was Jax. No one likes him and he just needs to crawl in a ditch and cry himself to death. Damn it…
Walking up to the three to try and figure out what was going on, Aera found herself being shoved along by Tegan. Mason too. What was that all about? Looking behind her to glower at Jaxon, Aera then shrugged her shoulders and proceeded to walk forwards. She didn’t really say anything…she was trying to figure out where she last left her wand. When they arrived at a table with Kay sketching away, Aera took it upon herself to greet the girl before dismissing herself.
“Hey Kay. Nice drawing.” Turning to Tegan, Mason, and Jaxon, Aera humiliatingly rubbed the back of her neck as she spoke. “Eh, sorry guys but I have to go. I kind of…misplaced my wand. Heh.” Giving an awkward nod of the head at no one in particular and glancing around the other tables to scout for J.T, she decided that she wasn’t going to wait and that she probably just left her wand with her stuff last night. “Anyways, I may or may not be back. Dunno. So…” looking at Jaxon, she gave him a mocking smile and wave of the hand. “C’ya~!”
With that she darted off in an immediate sprint. Only moments afterwards Jeong casually walked up to the table and bowed just enough to show that his silent nature was still saying hello. He saw that Tegan and Mason were sitting with each other, as he would have expected, but he would never admit that he was somewhat taken back by the appearance of Jaxon. Certainly an unusual sight and when he noted that Aera was not here, he figured she was just trying to fool him again. Although J.T couldn’t help but notice that, if this was her, she was doing a better job at impersonating the guy’s atmosphere than she’s ever been capable of. Something told him that it really was Jaxon…although he wasn’t about to let his guard down in case it was his cousin.
Deciding that he should sit next to Kaylynn, probably the quieter one of the bunch, he glanced at her drawing for a second. He didn’t comment though. They seemed to be in the middle of a conversation, or at least Kaylynn was busy asking them something.

Jaxon wondered if he should have explained the reason he accepted the lunch invitation was because Ari had lunch at the same time as them today. She was sure to sit with them, because of this. He decided he did not need to explain himself though and simply went along with them, holding a small conversation about class on the way with Tegan.
As they arrived, Mason had picked their seat, with that quiet girl that he didn't really mind. Tegan had asked what he wanted to drink, "Just some juice is fine." He mentioned just before Aera had quickly begun to excuse herself. It seems she had lost her wand. That was irresponsible, how could anyone lose their wand. That did explain her odd behavior in class when questioned about it by the professor. It had resulted in a loss of house points as well, which was annoying.
As she dismissed herself, oddly, her cousin soon joined them. Kaylynn was mentioning how she saw the girl with purple hair coming from their class. Jaxon remined quiet though. He thought it best not to remark on his classmates stupiduty with this particular group.
Of course as thought Ariella appeared and hurridly made her way to the table on the other side of Kaylynn. Though she had just come from her charms class, her brain was still on care of magical creatures from the block before. "Kay! Look at what we were studying today!" Pulling out her notebook she pointed to the creature mentioned in todays lesson. She knew Kaylynn knew all about various creatures, so Ariella liked sharing about stuff she learned with the girl. It wasn't something she could really talk about with her ghost friends.
