Okay, this idea came to me while I was sleeping and pondering about the meaning to life.
What if you have absolute power, wealth and unending lifespan? Anything you wished and wanted to do, you had done it. Multiple times over even. What awaits us in the end is just boredom. Pure, unending boredom. That is just what happened to Seyren Menathil, a lich that had lived for eons, almost as old as the first civilization. He achieved lichdom in order to save his loved one, but was too late for when he achieved lichdom and the power to save his wife, she had long decomposed. He ruled the world once 27,000 years ago, but returned the world to mortals after just 10 years of dominion. Seeking the Eternal Sleep but unable to get it due to his power over undeath, he sought help from the Divines in order to end his profane life. He was promised the Eternal Sleep, but after he recorded every knowledge available in the mortal world, be it past, present or future. Now, twenty-six thousand, nine hundred and eighty years later, he is still recording, using his powers to see into the past, present and future simultaneously, to record accurate knowledge and categorizing them into a library he had established, named the Infinite Library to mortals. While nations would wage war against the Library to covet the precious knowledge for their own selfish gains, Seyren would remind the world time and time again that if he wants to, he could raze entire civilizations with just a thought of his mind. That alone, made the Infinite Library, which encompasses the size of New York City itself, a neutral territory. Seyren gives no thoughts to politics nor world news, for he knows what happened, happens and will happen. He has no use for wealth, for he has no need for it. He is the Unending, and he seeks an end to this monumental task given to him by the Gods.
Year 2016, and in the midst of his recordings, an event takes place which had the information stored in Seyren's titanic Library. Seyren knows of this, and yet he has no control over it, for his task is only the recording of mortal knowledge, and such is that he will not know what the Divines nor the Demonic are planning. He knows the consequences as a result of the Heavenly and Hellish interference in the Mortal world, and yet he does not know how to stop it. But he knows one thing: there will be heroes who will receive the blessings of a Goddess, and they are the only ones who can save the world.
Cheezy, I know, but that was what I have.
